Our midterm in PreCalc is tomorrow, so I wanted a fun way for the kids to review. @MrsCookHS posted about a a game called Kahoot! It reminds me of the trivia-type games you can play at Buffalo Wild Wings. I had the kids get into groups of three; each team needed a phone with reliable and available internet data. They went to Kahoot.it, entered the game pin and their team’s nickname, and bam–we were good to go! A question would pop up on the smart board and then the team would hit A, B, C, or D on their phone. The faster they got the right answer, the more Kahoots (points) they would get. After each question, the screen would show the current rankings.
The kids loved it, and my other colleagues who used it emailed me and said they loved it, too. Yippee!
My last class of the day is a tiny PreCalc class so we did boys v. girls. They love playing against each other. For one of the questions, I asked, “Who got that question right first?” And one boy said, “I don’t know. We got 456 Kahoots. How many Kahoots did you girls get?”
We all about died laughing. Try saying Kahoots without smiling. It’s literally impossible.

Thanks for sharing this! I can’t wait to try it with my students. I’m curious to know if two minutes were enough for most groups to be able to answer the questions.
It was for us. That’s the max time you can select with Kahoot. Hope it works for you!
