Visible Growth

We have midterms this week which means a week without prep. It’s a nice change of pace. My mentee had a chance to breathe. He went back through his papers from first semester in preparation for teaching the same semester long course next semester. He found that his papers from September were disorganized and his lessons lost. But more recent months have papers in order and complete tasks rather than tidbits. He was so proud to see how much he had grown since starting the year. Visible growth is exciting in a profession where most progress and accomplishments are invisible.
