Today a student was working on a study guide and had to draw three examples of a function: a mapping, list of ordered pairs, and a graph. Looking back at her notes, I assumed she would copy one type of each. Instead she found what a function mapping should look like, made up her own numbers, and drew the arrows. Then she used the numbers from the mapping to list the ordered pairs. On the graph, she plotted her ordered pairs. I thought it was so clever that she went about it that way.
