Supportive School

My dean sent an email to all of the senior teachers this morning. One group of seniors has been getting disrespectful towards a number of teachers, and she wanted us to feel free to get on them and that she’ll be visiting classrooms to keep an eye on them. I haven’t been having trouble with the seniors (I don’t have a critical mass of the problematic ones), but it was a good feeling to know that my administration has my back.

A friend of mine started teaching here this semester – as in, her first day was yesterday. She was asked to be an emergency sub today for Algebra I, which is right next to my class. I got to talk to her between classes and help her get her feet. The department head also stopped by to check in on her. Again, I loved seeing a supportive school.
