In my first period geometry class today, students were checking over their nightly work. The problems had been of the type: “use this diagram and what you know about parallel lines to discover missing angles.”

One student told me he enjoyed them — they were like puzzles. And when he finished one page, he wanted to do more!

I said, “naaaah, you’re just trying to butter up your ol’ math teacher.”

He replied, “no, really! I came home from the basketball game, and it was late, and my mom said to finish them up in the morning, but I wanted to do them!”
