Math Puns

Today my semester calculus class (not AP level–just getting a general exposure to calculus) was really on top of using calculus words as puns.  One of my students has strep throat and has been absent.  So I was talking about how the first time I had strep throat when I was an adult.  I made the comment that having strep throat was worse than having a baby.  One student (a male) commented, “I don’t know, it would be hard for me to differentiate between the two.”  Good laugh 🙂  It makes me feel good to know they are internalizing the calculus terms.
