I’m in my first year of attempting flipping. I started researching it knowing there was a good chance we’d be in and out of distance learning this year. But the more I researched, the more I bought into the idea even in a non-pandemic year.
After watching the lesson, taking notes, and making predictions through questions I’ve built in along the way, I ask the kids for questions or comments. “N/a,” is an acceptable answer for now, which is what most of them submit. But I get a few in each hour that ask a clarifying question or even make a comment on how they’re enjoying this setup so far.
This comment was one of my favorites though. I gave them a challenge problem at the end of the lesson last night and said we would discuss in class. I didn’t give the answer in the video. However, one student wrote: “I checked the challenge problem with Desmos when I was done, and I got it right!!! I feel so smart!”
Proud teacher.
