I told my calc kids we’d be starting mindfulness today. In each class, the students who had me last year gave a cheer, which made me so happy. For the others, I gave a short introduction on what mindfulness is and how it can help our mental and emotional state.
Asking a group of teenagers to sit quietly and focus on their breath for several minutes could go wrong. But as always, this group took it in good stride.
Afterwards a student said, “That was really nice.”
Yeah! That’s exactly what it should feel like.
Happy teacher. Here’s to a year of continued emotional and mental growth.
