21

A moment to brag on my 21 sophomores…

On Monday, every single one of them showed up on Zoom to take their quiz. They uploaded all their work correctly and their homework as well.

Today they came to Zoom on time again. Every single kid had watched not one but two video lessons prior to “class.”

We recapped the first lesson together and then I let them get off Zoom to go practice it on their own. I stayed on in case they needed help; a couple popped back in and out to ask a quick question.

I asked them to come back in a half hour so we could recap the second lesson and work in breakout rooms a bit with it.

And—you guess it—all 21 kids came back to Zoom exactly when I asked them to and worked with their groups to finish out the class time.

I think you would be hard-pressed to find a group of 21 adults that could juggle distance learning this well. This is not for the faint of heart. But I truly believe they’re gaining skills beyond math that will serve them for a lifetime.
