Baking

I had to sub during my plan today. You all know how much I hate this. I’m an introvert with sixth hour plan…I look forward to that one quiet hour at the end of the day so very much.

This year has been particularly brutal as there’s only four of us with sixth hour plan. I sub every 1-2 weeks. The last time I subbed was three school days ago.

I remember years where I could go an entire semester and never lose a plan. Now I find myself feeling grateful on the days I get a plan.

Tell me this is not outrageous.

But we’re here for the good so here it is!

The president of U-Bake (the baking club I get to help sponsor) asked to meet during sixth hour. I said it was fine as long as she was ok with other students in my room. We ended up having an informal meeting and planning our next two bakes. And I am so excited.

Fall baking is simply the best kind of baking. Warm cookies out of the oven, pumpkin muffins, the chocolatey-est chocolates…everything tastes better in the fall. You may quote me on that one.

So this hour I was dreading turned out to be both productive and fun.

I’m so excited to watch students get together and just enjoy baking with and for others.

There’s something so scared about making food with each other. It’s what human beings have done for millennia and—not to sound like that person but—it’s something I fear we’re losing.

I’m looking forward to seeing what comes out of our little (actually, not so little) club.
