Final review

We started the final study guide today! These days are either torturous because you think “Well. They learned nothing.” Or joyous because you think, “They did retain something!”

Gloriously, we experienced the latter today.

Before we dove into their cumulative review, we did a bird’s eye look first. I said it’s always good to know where you’re going, before looking at the details, especially when studying for a big test.

I put the objectives in dry erase sleeves (and lettered them A-W). Then I had them work in their groups to match each question to an objective/strategy. They marked off the strategies as they paired them to a problem.

I walked around all day, but they barely ever needed me. Not once did I answer the question, “I just don’t know how to begin…” Because they always checked their strategy first.

I know I’ve said it a million times, but: we didn’t get to do this last year. We didn’t get to study for finals. We didn’t get to sit back and see the scope of all we had learned.

I’m sure the kids do not feel the same way, but I’m so grateful for this week. So grateful to sit back and see all they’ve learned.
