Finding Time

A couple of weeks ago I introduced my third graders to Wordle and Nerdle. They (at least a lot of them) were immediately hooked. But I couldn’t find a consistent time in our day to do them. We squeezed them in some days and didn’t get to them other days. I was getting frustrated and the kids were asking when we would do them.

Then we went mask optional. (I’ll be honest, this was very stressful for me. I’m continuing to mask and I told the kids I would for the rest of the year. I want them to feel as comfortable choosing to mask as they do choosing not to mask.) Mask optional means we aren’t contract tracing really so I don’t have to keep making my kids sit in the same place so that we can do that. We’re back to flexible seating and gathering on the carpet, which I do love.

And we can eat our snack in our classroom rather than in the hallway, distanced from each other. So now we eat our snack in the classroom while we do Wordle and Mathle. Yay!
