Monday: Today I wore hot pink earrings and a hot pink shirt and throughout the day students told me I looked like a walking highlighter. At the end of the day a student told me I looked like a teenager. In a bazinga game (game I made up), students had to guess my age to win 8 points. They guessed 35 and a paraprofessional guessed my age was 28. It always makes me laugh because there’s always a kid in class whose parent was my classmate and they still get it wrong.

I’m 37.
Tuesday: We were learning absolute value inequalities in Algebra 1 today when a student said this was so easy he could teach the class. So I handed him the marker and said go ahead. I’m pretty sure someone in the room actually gasped. He went up to the board and started writing but I stopped him and said he had to talk to the class. So he turns around and says “Okay class, come on with it.” The kids were falling over themselves to tell him how to solve it. It was easy and he could teach it and I was in the corner crying laughing at their reactions.
At parent teacher conferences tonight, my first mom hugged me and thanked me for everything I do.
Wednesday: To celebrate birthdays this year I had each student decorate a birthday crown. I take a picture of them and then I get the picture printed and give it to them. Today I found a boys birthday picture hanging on my bulletin board. I took it down and put in his binder. He saw it during class and then tried to hide the picture again but it’s hard to hide in a class of 4. After school I found this in the parking lot😂

Thursday: A student was telling me about her friend’s math class at another school whose teacher gives them packets. My student offered her old geometry notebook from our class. She told me it’s so much easier to learn when things are organized. She was leaving the room and turned back to tell me “You’re my favorite part of high school.”
Friday: No School 🙂
